Original development of APAX began in 1994. Since then the vehicle has evolved through 5 prototypes.
At the national Cycle Expo Trade Show in Toronto in October 2000, considerable interest was shown by manufacturers, distributors and dealers. During demonstrations the vehicle literally "stole the show". It easily out-cornered and out-performed high-end mountain bikes and other HPV’s.
Establishment of a small-scale manufacturing facility is now in the development stage. This pilot plant will be capable of producing one thousand vehicles per year.
APAX also has a parallel R&D program of the patented VRHEC hydraulic energy management system. The VRHEC; features an energy storage and recapture (regenerative braking) process. It is an energy-saving/recycling technology with various applications such as elevators, hybrid vehicles, cranes and other cyclic energy processes.
